Oxfordshire as we are seeking a Book Series Buyer. In this role, you will be
responsible for managing the purchasing of series titles for leading global academic
institutions and other educational establishments. Working in a dynamic purchasing
environment, you will collaborate with publishers, distributors, and internal teams to
maintain accurate series records and fulfill customer orders.
4 days on site, 1 day work from home
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain print standing orders with publishers and distributors.
Purchase series titles upon publication, particularly where standing orders are
not possible.
Research, set up, and maintain series records in our database.
Manage the end-to-end process of buying series titles, including receiving and
profiling books.
Liaise with colleagues across various teams to ensure smooth processing of
orders and updates.
Chase open purchase orders and update systems as required.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
Experience in a library, book selling or publishing environment.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a logical, methodical manner.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable:
Familiarity of acquisition or purchasing.
Knowledge of one or more European languages (German, French, Spanish, or
Italian).
Familiarity with bibliographic data and cataloguing.
