Job description

At Colchester Hospital we are looking for a Biomedical Scientist in Histopathology to join us to cover maternity leave until 13th March 2026.

This post is full time 37.5 hours per week, however would consider a minimum of 30 hours per week.

You will be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a Biomedical Science BSc degree or equivalent with evidence of CPD.

You will be working for a busy, dedicated and friendly team who are waiting UKAS accreditation notification. We are a team that will support and actively encourage you in your training and development.

We are looking for you to have UK based lab experience for this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Undertake testing and processing of biomedical specimens, analysis recording of results and entering of information onto the laboratory IT systems.
  • Work flexibly in reflection of service needs; this may include an extended working day.
  • Supervise and/or train less experienced staff in own area of work and competency.
  • Engage with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals, including blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
  • Maintain and promote professional image of the organisation.
  • Be involved in maintaining our quality management system.
