Job description

We are seeking a skilled Biomass Engineer to join our Facilities Management team in Glasgow. You will play a critical role in the operation, maintenance, and servicing of biomass heating systems across various sites. Location: Glasgow (mobile)

Salary: Competitive (up to 45,000 depending on experience)

Employment type: Full-time, permanent, Monday-Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on biomass boilers, heating systems, and associated plant equipment.
  • Responsible for fault diagnosis, identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical faults efficiently to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and industry regulations, regularly monitoring systems, recording operational data, and producing maintenance reports.
  • Clear communication with clients and colleagues to maintain excellent service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in maintaining and servicing biomass boilers or similar renewable energy systems.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, or Heating Systems (or equivalent) with strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of building services regulations, health and safety, and environmental standards.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel between sites may be necessary.

Desirable:

  • Biomass-specific qualifications such as HETAS or OFTEC and experience working in a Facilities Management environment.
  • Knowledge of other renewable energy systems, including heat pumps or solar technologies.
