BIM Coordinator
Estates and Capital Projects
Full-time
Permanent
£40,312 - £44,045 per annum

About the role:
The British Museum's Estates and Capital Projects Department (ECPD) has started implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) with the development of a BIM Strategy for the next 5 years and the Museum's Exchange Information Requirements in key projects, as well as the launch of an internal Common Data Environment (CDE). The BIM Coordinator will play a crucial role supporting the implementation of the BIM Strategy, manage the Information Requirements and lead the management of survey, project and asset information models.

Key areas of responsibilities:

  1. Support with the implementation, requirements, and governance of BIM and help develop new business as usual processes.
  2. Manage the master set of Exchange Information Requirements and monitor their implementation across projects.
  3. Support in ensuring the Museum has asset information models, survey models and drawings that accurately represent the as-built conditions and assets of the British Museum's estate. This may include overseeing the development of new survey models, identifying Project Information Models (PIMs) scopes and preparing base models for projects, integrating PIMs with Asset Information Models (AIMs), generating new 2D drawings and schedules and/or updating the AIM with both geometrical and alpha-numeric information, as required.
  4. Support to maintain and access up-to-date Museum CAD drawings, inclusive of managing any required updates or changes to reflect alterations.
  5. Support to identify legacy information that needs to be incorporated into models or databases in BIM environment. Assist in developing priorities and plans to execute accordingly.

About you:

  1. Experience working with BIM models and processes in projects, information management in the built environment and/or heritage/ conservation sectors. Experience with BIM implementation and asset information desirable.
  2. Educated to degree level or similar relevant qualification and experience. A post-graduate degree or formal qualification in Information Management/BIM, Project Management is desirable.
  3. Experience with BIM related software (i.e. Revit, Navisworks, Solibri), and industry standards (COBie, IFC, Uniclass).
  4. Experience of collaborative working, cloud storage, and CDEs.
