Intelligence & Deployment – ‘Turning data into intelligence-based business action’.
Intelligence and deployment are two key elements which underpin the operational delivery of the ASEL risk Model (ARM). As a member of the BID street team, you will be at the cutting edge of UK business crime reduction and intelligent crime management. You will be a critical part of the most effective urban centres operation in the UK.
ASEL is breaking the glass ceiling on UK security officer quality, training, and delivery. You will join an elite team of urban centre security professionals delivering services as the tactical arm of our Command and Intelligence Centre operation, you will be highly trained, highly responsive, and highly effective delivering significant benefits to ASEL customers and the wider communities within which we operate. You will be part of the most respected private security team in the UK.
Main duties & key responsibilities
1.Provide a high visibility, reassuring and friendly presence, and safe environment in and around The Reading Town Centre and Abbey Quarter areas, reacting to threat risk and harm, appropriately and as per you’re training every time.
2.Operate in a professional manner. Offering excellence in customer service to BID businesses, members of the public, the local authority, and the BID team.
3.You will check intelligence updates daily at the start of your tour of duty and ensure you are aware of target subjects likely to impact BID businesses.
4.You will target agreed priority prolific and persistent offenders with a laser focus reducing crime and risk across your urban area of operation.
5.You will communicate daily with the ASEL CIC and maintain compliance with BID business visit schedules unless directed to different stores or sites based on CIC instruction or direct instruction from the BID team. You will always follow the instructions of the ASEL CIC.
6.You will make regular general welfare visits to all BID levy payers regardless of incident reporting frequencies ensuring engagement and lined of communication remain open at all times.
7.You will make regular general welfare visits to Abbey Quarter businesses, in particular the reception staff regardless of incident reporting frequencies ensuring engagement and lined of communication remain open at all times.
8.You will stop and arrest subjects of interest where lawful, appropriate and safe to do so.
9.You will report every incident and all intelligence via the Rading BID DISC software regardless of how small and complete daily DILO reports as required.
10.You will report business engagement activities via the Solomon platform.
11.You will gather evidence for UK Police investigations including MG11 Police Statement completion and CCTV exhibiting where required and assist businesses who have already detained offenders supporting with detention and identification.
12.You will respond to calls in a timely fashion to the BID radio communications system and or mobile phone call and acknowledge radio and phone calls every single time.
13.You will support visitors to the town centre by providing wayfinding information to visitors.
14.You will deal with sharps, waste, and debris as and when identified following the appropriate process.
15.You will attend and support monthly Business Crime meetings and support the Business Crime Manager when required.
16.You will support Police Prosecutions by attending court and giving evidence when required.
17.You will offer first aid support when required as a first responder.
Working relationships
Direct report responsibilities - You will have no direct reports, however you will be expected to act in a leadership capacity during any incidents during your tour of duty taking ownership of the situational leadership and completing dynamic risk assessments.
Internal working relationships - You will work hand in hand with the ASEL Command and Intelligence Centre who will be your main point of contact during your tours of duty.
You will work as an extension to the Business Improvement District team representing their brand and delivering enhanced credibility and professionalism across the urban centre.
External working relationships - You will be expected to work closely and foster meaningful professional relationships with BID businesses and managers offering advice and guidance and reassurance during and post incident.
You will visit BID businesses regularly becoming an extension of their own teams.
You will work collaboratively with your Neighbourhood Police teams, building meaningful professional relationships bridging the gap between BID businesses and Police. You will be the main point of contact for all local Police engagement supporting the BCRP manager.
You will work closely with other organisations such as the local Business Crime Partnership, St Mungo’s and the Street Pastors building meaningful professional relationships and identifying opportunities
Aditional information
This role will require flexibility in terms of shift allocation and will from time to time require short notice changes to visits and or potentially days and times for shifts to ensure the model remains risk based enabling us to respond to threats as they are identified.
This role is a 5 days in 7 role and for that reason weekend working is mandatory, this will be balanced with scheduled weekends where you are not rostered to work supporting work life balance where possible.
For this role you will be issued with appropriate personal protection equipment. You will be required to ensure your equipment is well maintained and in good condition at all times.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
1.SIA Security License, Door Supervisor or Close Protection License
2.IT literacy, comfortable using mobile devices and app-based services
3.Smart appearance and takes pride in how they look
4.Good communication skills both oral and written
Desirable
1.Experience working in the UK Policing sector (Police / PCSO / Council Warden)
2.Ex Military experience
3.SIA CCTV License
4.Basic IT qualification (L2)
5.Basic customer service qualification (L2)
6.Experience dealing with conflict in the retail security environment
7.Experience working with UK Police
