Benefits Advisor

  • Annual Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
  • Location: Bristol
  • Job Type: Permanent

We are seeking a Benefits Advisor to join a Bristol based Housing Association. This role offers a blend of home and office working in Bristol, providing a dynamic work environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  1. Provide budgeting and welfare benefit advice to customers, including completing Income and Expenditure statements, advising on benefits and grant applications, and signposting for additional support.
  2. Work collaboratively with internal and external partners, such as Housing Benefit offices and the Department of Works and Pensions, as well as independent money, debt, or legal advice services.
  3. Ensure the best outcomes for customers by leveraging your knowledge of the benefits system and your experience in supporting vulnerable customers with kindness and empathy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Up-to-date working knowledge of the benefits system.
  2. Prior experience within a housing association / social housing.
  3. Proven experience supporting customers in completing statements and applications.
  4. Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners.
  5. Strong decision-making skills, diplomatic and confidential approach.
  6. Ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  7. Must have a car and full driving licence as travel is required for the role.
  8. A DBS check will be undertaken for the successful candidate.
