Job description

Job Title: Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Weymouth
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

GSL Education are excited to invite a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join a supportive and inclusive school in Weymouth!

About the role: As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting students in achieving their educational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement behaviour support plans (BSPs) from teachers and the SENCO to manage challenging behaviours consistently and effectively.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them understand and manage their emotions and actions in different situations.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment by encouraging and reinforcing good behaviour and social skills among students.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and outside professionals to develop and review behaviour strategies that meet each student's needs.
  • Keep track of student behaviour and progress, maintaining clear records and sharing feedback with teachers and parents/guardians when needed.
  • Assist teachers in keeping a productive learning space by using proactive strategies and providing support during lessons.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students who have behavioural challenges in schools or similar environments.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to support students in managing their behaviour and emotions effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work well with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, helping to create a positive school community.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
