Behaviour Learning Support Assistant - Supporting Pupils with SEMH

Location: Basingstoke
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible (following safer recruitment checks)


A small, supportive school in Basingstoke is seeking a Behaviour Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behaviours. This school provides a fresh start for pupils, helping them re-engage with education before returning to a mainstream setting.


About the Role:
  1. Supporting students with SEMH needs to re-engage with learning in a structured and nurturing environment.
  2. Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner.
  3. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to develop individual support strategies.
  4. Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional well-being.

What We Are Looking For:
  1. An energetic and passionate individual with a calming presence.
  2. Previous experience working with children in education, sports, or other related settings.
  3. Experience supporting young people with medical conditions, complex backgrounds, or mental health challenges is highly desirable.
  4. A commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential and successfully transition back to mainstream education.
