Location: Coventry (CV1 2SF)

Pay: £395-£430 (Weekly Take Home after Tax and NI)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviour? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!


About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work across Key Stage 2 (ages 6-11) in a supportive and inclusive school in Coventry. You will play a vital role in providing tailored support and mentoring to children with ASD, SEMH needs, and challenging behaviour, helping them develop social skills, emotional resilience, and positive learning behaviours.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to children with behavioural and emotional needs.
  2. Support pupils in managing emotions, developing coping strategies, and improving engagement in learning.
  3. Work closely with teachers and SENCO to implement behaviour support plans.
  4. Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to support pupils effectively.
  5. Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted role model and mentor.
  6. Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
  7. Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.

Candidate Requirements

  1. Previous experience working with children aged 6-11 with ASD, SEMH needs, and challenging behaviour.
  2. A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  3. Experience using de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
  4. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  5. A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
