About Us:
We are a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Oxted, dedicated to providing high-quality education and care to children with autism. Our school is committed to fostering a nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and skilled individual to join our team as a Behaviour and Development Support Worker to support our students on the autism spectrum.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
2. Implement tailored behavior management strategies to support students in managing challenging behaviors and developing positive coping mechanisms.
3. Work closely with the teaching team to deliver individualized learning plans and support students' personal development.
4. Provide education and training to students on social interactions, emotional regulation, and life skills.
5. Assist in the development and implementation of tailored strategies for students with autism, ensuring their needs are met in all areas of school life.
6. Contribute to the wider school community and support extracurricular activities where appropriate.

Requirements:

1. Previous experience working with children or young people with autism, particularly in a secondary school setting, is highly desirable.
2. Understanding of autism spectrum conditions and associated behaviors.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
4. Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to supporting students through challenging situations.
5. Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the individual needs of students.
