York Gate is a Grade II listed art and crafts garden spread over an acre just outside of Leeds. With a mixture of tropical and exotic plants, seasonal borders and a wildflower meadow, York Gate boasts beautiful gardens, a café and a gift shop and hosts large numbers of visitors each year. In 2024 we were recognised in the Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Awards as one of the top 10% attractions in the world.

We are currently seeking a Barista / Café Assistant to join our team in York Gate, on a permanent, full-time basis, working up to 37.5 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays during the summer months.

The Role
As a Barista / Café Assistant, you’ll staff the café at York Gate, delivering great service to all customers. Specifically, working closely with other staff and volunteers, you will prepare food and drinks, maintain hygiene standards and ensure the café runs smoothly.

Additionally, you will:

1. Work on the tills
2. Assist customers with queries
3. Observe health and safety regulations
4. Follow risk assessments
5. Ensure daily safety records are maintained

About You
To be considered as a Barista / Café Assistant, you will need:

1. Customer care experience and excellent interpersonal skills
2. A smart appearance and the ability to represent York Gate Garden positively
3. A willingness to undertake further training, particularly in food safety
4. The ability to work seasonal and weekend hours as required
