The Square has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Bar Manager to lead our talented team. The Square is Bristol's premier private members' club for the media and arts industries. Our sumptuous bar is open to our members, hotel guests and event attendees alike. This is a varied role with the bar team needing to be adaptable to work at our events, weddings or to be serving our members on any given evening. A typical week may consist of an exclusive wedding, a couple of private events and some members' events alongside normal trade.

Reporting to the General Manager, Dan Keen, this full time position (40 hours per week) would be an excellent next step for someone looking to progress in their career. We have a well-established cocktail menu, but we are not exclusively a 'cocktail bar' - so, while an interest in cocktails is great, you'll be serving lots of wines, beers and spirits and mixers too, so but are always looking for new ideas!
Key details for the role:

Salary: £31,962 package. This comprises an hourly rate of £13.50 per hour (totalling £28,080 per annum based on 40 hours per week) plus approx. £3882 per annum in service charge (paid monthly).

Working pattern: 40 hours per week, worked over 5 shifts to include mostly evenings and weekends.
Who are we looking for in a Bar Manager?

• A passion for hospitality and great customer service!

• You must have experience in a supervisory or leadership position; you will need to be confident in taking the reins and managing your team

Key responsibilities for the Bar Manager position:

• Operational running of the Square members / events bar - making sure that service levels are impeccable and the team look the part
• Ensuring the department meets GP targets
• Management and training of all bar members of staff; carrying out 1-2-1 meetings with your team
• Ensuring the venue meets licensing requirements (if you do not hold your own personal license then we will pay for you to get one)
• Liaising with other departments, both within the Square and across the company, to ensure the Square's bar is portrayed in its best light in all marketing material
• Responsible for welcoming our members and their guests and maintaining the right atmosphere in our lower deck area
• Being a key member of the Square management team - working well with all other departments and the hotel
