We are seeking an experienced Banking & Finance Solicitor (2-7PQE) to join a leading law firm’s well-regarded team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile transactions and provide expert legal advice across a range of banking and finance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Loan Agreements & Security Documents: Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various loan agreements, including those based on funder proformas and Loan Market Association standards. Provide comprehensive advice on all forms of security documents.
- Banking Advice: Offering general banking advice to both borrowers and funders, covering facilities, securities, and complex funding arrangements.
- Corporate Funding Documents: Drafting, negotiating, and revising corporate funding documents, ensuring compliance with legal standards and client requirements.
- Transaction Support: Collaborating with property and corporate colleagues to address the banking and finance aspects of various transactions.
- Referral Work & Legal Opinions: Handling referral work from London-based law firms and other entities, focusing on Scots law issues in banking and finance. Provide expert legal opinions in these areas.
Team Expertise:
The team has extensive experience advising both borrowers and funders on transactions involving multiple jurisdictions, including Scotland, England & Wales, and international aspects. They specialise in:
- Real estate finance, including development, investment, leisure, and healthcare sectors.
- Project finance, with a focus on renewables and energy.
- Asset finance, secured lending, and general banking.
- Managing secured and unsecured debt, syndicated and bilateral lending, and security restructures.
Client Base:
The firm represents a diverse range of clients, including institutional funders, corporate groups, property developers, investors, charities, trusts, and individuals. Notable clients include prominent organisations in the public and private sectors.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualification & Experience: A qualified Scottish solicitor with approximately 3-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Skills: Strong ability to manage a varied workload efficiently, with the capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Demonstrated experience in delivering top-tier service to clients is essential.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in banking and security arrangements, with a robust understanding of related legal principles and industry standards.
