Salary: £13 per hour

About Norwood:

Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.

Norwood works with local authorities, to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.

About the Home:

The service is a large, detached cottage style property with three bedrooms on the ground floor and five bedrooms on the first floor. The location is close to the town centre which has shops and local amenities with easy access to public transport. Free parking is available on and around the location. Nearest station is the Jubilee Line at Stanmore.

The service is busy and fast paced with 8 people living there. They have moderate to severe learning disabilities, complex health needs and mental health diagnosis. The residents enjoy a variety of person centred activities.

Your Role at Norwood:

As a Bank Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with learning disabilities and autism to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Guiding and supporting individuals in their day-to-day activities.
  2. Encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  3. Accompanying individuals to routine appointments.
  4. Teaching essential life skills like budgeting, shopping, and managing bills.
  5. Assisting with personal care and, if required, administering medication.
  6. Contributing to household tasks such as cleaning and cooking.
Minimum Requirements:

• Experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental disabilities

• Moving and Positioning Certificate

• High-energy with a good level of physical fitness

• Desire to make a difference

Induction information:

We run mandatory 4-day induction training which will need to be fully completed prior to you starting in the role which you will be paid for, as per the hourly rate of £13.00.
