Bank Senior Care Assistant Care and Support - Glebe House Care Home

Our privately owned care home, set in the beautiful and tranquil location of East Ayrshire, provides personalised Nursing & Residential care for 46 residents.

As Senior Care Assistant, you’ll play a key role in leading our care team, ensuring our residents receive the highest standard of care, and creating a warm, supportive environment.

You’ll coordinate shifts, lead by example, and be responsible for the performance of your team during each shift. Your leadership will help us maintain a caring, efficient, and positive atmosphere in our home.

What You’ll Do

  1. Lead and Coordinate: Ensure all staff contribute to the smooth running of the home and create the right atmosphere.
  2. Resident Support: Assist residents with dressing, bathing, toileting, and mobility, always prioritizing their dignity and independence.
  3. Medication Management: Oversee the ordering, administration, and documentation of medication, maintaining accurate records.
  4. Effective Communication: Engage with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members to ensure clear, compassionate communication.
  5. Team Collaboration: Foster a team ethos, respecting diversity and promoting a supportive environment for all staff.
  6. Visitor Interaction: Welcome visitors and show prospective residents and families around the home’s facilities.
  7. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency call bells, assess situations, and provide or call for assistance as needed.
  8. Documentation: Write and update care plans, risk assessments, and case notes, ensuring they reflect residents’ needs and wishes.
  9. Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings, training, and e-learning, taking responsibility for your own growth and development.
  10. Health and Safety: Be aware of and adhere to Health and Safety policies, including COSHH, and escalate concerns to management.

What We’re Looking For

  1. Qualifications: SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care is essential. We also welcome applications from experienced Care Assistants actively working towards their Level 3.
  2. Medication Training: Practical Medication Administration with competencies is required.
  3. Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team, delegating tasks effectively while maintaining a supportive environment.
  4. Compassionate Nature: A kind, caring, and compassionate personality with a sense of fun and a commitment to person-centred care.
