Job description

Are you a Nurse, Midwife or Paramedic who is flexible and enthusiastic, as well as being resourceful, and wishes to participate in the delivery of the School Aged Immunisation Programme for the upcoming Flu season? Are you looking to work flexibly close to home? Then the Bank Immunisation Practitioner role is for you!

Vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them. The School Aged Immunisation Service for Northamptonshire delivers vaccinations in both school settings and community clinics and works to promote the delivery of vaccinations as part of the Public Health Service offer. We are looking for bank support to help us to deliver the upcoming 2025/2026 Flu season.

Our main bases are in Kettering, Northampton & Daventry with satellite bases in Brackley and Corby. The upcoming program is countywide and you will be able to work as close to home as possible.

You will be part of a dynamic team consisting of a Clinical Team Lead, Quality Practitioners and colleagues in both clinical and administrative roles. You will be working alongside these colleagues to deliver the Flu programme safely and effectively as part of the Immunisation Service for Northamptonshire.

As a member of the School Aged Immunisation Team you will:

  1. Assess and triage to determine suitability for the Flu vaccine
  2. Work as part of a team to support the end-to-end process of delivering the Flu vaccine in a school or community setting
  3. Be professionally accountable for the delivery of high quality care
  4. Utilise technology to enable you to maximise use of electronic systems and update records at the point of contact in a school or community setting
  5. You will need to hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own car that will enable you to be able to travel countywide in Northamptonshire as per the clinical need for cover at immunisation sessions.

As a member of the NHFT Bank Immunisation Team, there will be excellent learning and development opportunities to help support you and develop your career.

Benefits:

In addition to the excellent learning and development opportunities, there are many other benefits to the staff bank, these are as follows:

  1. Excellent pay rates
  2. Competitive Millage Rate
  3. Flexible working opportunities across the organisation
  4. Access to NHS pensions
  5. To widen your interests and learn new skills
  6. To be part of a team
  7. To help develop your career
  8. To improve the patient and service user experience

You will need to be adaptable and resourceful. You'll need to be well organised, confident and able to cope in diverse situations to deliver care to service users. Leadership and management skills are also important, as with all roles, communication skills, problem solving and good judgement are crucial.

You will be part of a caring team and be able to work flexibly with minimum supervision, with the ability to prioritise work based on the patient need.
