Job Description:

The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has already worked within the field of decontamination of re-usable medical devices or who has completed a recognised decontamination course (NVQ/TVQ/Technical Certificate). You will be responsible for the full decontamination cycle on re-usable medical devices (surgical instruments) to the highest of standards, in line with all Ramsay policies and procedures, participating fully in quality control processes ensuring procedures and documentation are completed accurately at all times.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Undertaking decontamination duties and assisting in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.
  2. Carrying out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. Recording all tasks in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.
  3. Working in accordance with the Department’s Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems.
  4. Providing supervision to Apprentice/Trainee Decontamination Technicians within the team.
  5. Planning your own workload with limited supervision.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts.

What is a Bank contract:

A Bank contract at Ramsay Health Care UK is a flexible employment agreement where you are not committed to a set number of hours per week. Instead, you work on an ad-hoc basis, filling in shifts that we have available in our hospitals. A Bank contract is ideal for individuals seeking flexibility, as it allows you to choose shifts that fit your availability, leaving you with a greater work-life balance. Bank contracts are also a fantastic way to secure additional income alongside other contracted work. Our Bank staff play a crucial role in maintaining service levels during peak times or staff shortages, ensuring that patient care remains uninterrupted.

What we give back to you:

  • Free DBS.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • Excellent training and development opportunities.
  • Free parking and subsidised staff restaurant (subject to site facilities).
  • Free uniform.
  • Access to Blue Light Card.
