Job summary
There is an opportunity to cover a 12 month fixed term or secondment at UHB for a band 7 CNS in colposcopy. In partnership with the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will work and provide a specialist nursing service in colposcopy, delivering high quality clinical care. The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education, and support to staff, patients, their families, and carers.
The post holder will practice autonomously within their defined specialty to provide patient-centred quality care. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within an agreed scope of practice. They will ensure safe treatment, referral, follow-up, and discharge of patients within their designated specialty. They will act as a specialist resource and provide specialist advice in relation to care of patients in their specialty. The post holder will provide a range of educational and training programmes for the multidisciplinary team, patients, families, and carers.
The post holder's job plan should deliver a 100% clinical component.
Professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards & professional practice as set by Trust Policies/Procedures, the NMC Code. Carry overall responsibility for the organisation and management of the colposcopy service.
Provide expert advice to a cohort of patients referred for specialist intervention, care, and support within the services, being a point of contact for assessment, information & advice for the patient, & family and all staff involved in the care of the patients.
To provide a clear focus for clinical leadership & to be responsible for ensuring the provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care supporting the development of staff caring for patients through support, formal education & training, practice development & role modelling.
To be accountable for coordinating aspects of patient care, the management of resources & performance of staff within a defined service or defined group of staff.
Lead on nursing practice development including the development and updating of clinical guidelines, policy & procedure that relates to the practice setting. Lead on service development & contribute to strategic planning, to teach & act as a facilitator, mentor & supervisor to other staff. Ensure safe & effective clinical practice. Enhance patient experience. To lead, manage & develop team performance, promote professionalism & trust.
