Band 7/8a Clinical Psychologist (Mental Health)

This is a very exciting opportunity to help make a real difference to increasing access to Adult Mental Health (AMH) Clinical Psychology and Psychological services in North Wales. You will be joining a friendly, welcoming, and growing NHS secondary care AMH Clinical Psychology & Psychological services Department, with excellent clinical and research links with the School of Psychology and the DClinPsych Department at the University of Wales, Bangor.

The post holder will also benefit from BCUHB wide links across the North Wales within the BCUHB AMH Clinical Psychology & Psychological Services, with opportunity for research and clinical networking both North Wales and All Wales wide. They will be well supported, mentored, and managed within that department, with the opportunity for ongoing peer support, supervision, and further training and advancement.

Main duties of the job

The AMH Clinical Psychology and Psychology Services are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced 8a (Band 7 development post possible) Clinical Psychologists, to be based and work full time in Denbighshire CMHT. This is a permanent 8a post, and the post holder will work as part of integrated secondary mental health services for adults who have complex and severe mental health needs. The post holder will be expected to integrate well and co-work with their CMHT colleagues, providing specialist psychological knowledge and expertise to the team. As well as providing direct clinical input to clients, this will also involve working through others by training, supervision, and formulation work. It will also involve attendance at clinical MDT meetings, referral meetings (SPOA), and CMHT business meetings, and strategic and clinical leadership.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
  • Good Honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Chartered status with the BPS
  • HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • Clinical Supervision training for Doctoral trainees.
  • Advanced Training in research design and methodology
Experience
  • Significant experience of qualified clinical psychology practice.
  • Knowledge of a variety of relevant therapeutic approaches for mental health work and assessments.
