Would you like the opportunity to develop your community paediatric skills as part of a small but friendly department? We are looking for a professional, confident, enthusiastic team player who is passionate about working in paediatrics to join our team.

This role involves seeing children and their families in community clinics, offering a mixture of face-to-face, video, telephone, and email support to patients, GPs, and other community health professionals, including the 0-19 Family Wellbeing Team.

The Childrens Community Dietetic Team is responsible for providing expert advice and support for children with food allergy, faltering growth, feeding difficulties, restricted eating including children with autistic spectrum disorder, micronutrient deficiencies, as well as gastro issues such as constipation, IBS, and annual reviews for coeliac disease.

This permanent Band 6 post plays an integral role within the overall Community Dietetic Team. You will be responsible for your own clinical caseload, with clinical supervision provided by the Band 7 Community Paediatric Dietitian.

As well as providing dietary advice for a large range of nutritional needs, you will be expected to contribute to resources, audit and service development, as well as training for other healthcare professionals as necessary.

Main Responsibilities: As a key member of the Community Dietetic Team, you will:

  1. Work closely with the Paediatric Lead Dietitian to develop and enhance paediatric dietetic services in West Essex.
  2. Manage your own clinical caseload, providing specialist dietary advice to children and families.
  3. Contribute to service development, audits, resource creation, and training for other healthcare professionals.
  4. Receive clinical supervision from the Band 7 Community Paediatric Dietitian.
  5. Use your clinical expertise and judgement to assess and support children with complex nutritional needs.

The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Paediatric Dietitian who is eager to grow within a community setting. The ideal candidate will have:

  1. HCPC registration.
  2. Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (or equivalent).
  3. Minimum of 1 year clinical experience (including at least 6 months in paediatrics).
  4. Strong clinical competence in paediatric dietetics, including assessment, treatment, and counselling.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and healthcare teams.
  6. A flexible, organised approach, with the ability to manage workload under pressure.
  7. IT proficiency to support digital service delivery and documentation.
