We are looking to recruit a Painter & Decorator to work within our Estates team, working full time 37.5 hours per week.

Band 4, 26,530 - 29,114

The successful applicant would be working within the building section of the Estates department which includes carpenters, builders and building assistants.

We are looking to recruit a self-motivated person who is willing to work alongside other team members but also to be able to work on their own initiative.

Main duties of the job

To provide a painting and decorating service within healthcare premises including maintenance of existing building fabric and full re-decorating works (lifecycle), to meet the needs of the Trust, by operating an efficient and effective Estates Service within the Trust's healthcare facilities to ensure the safe delivery of patient care:

  1. Delivering a planned maintenance, repair & installations service which always represents quality and value for money.
  2. Providing a safe maintenance service to all building/construction related infrastructure.
  3. Assisting in the development of the Estates function into a customer focused range of services.
  4. Adopting a flexible, integrated working approach to the delivery of Estates Service.
  5. To work autonomously with estates colleagues, effectively organising and managing the decorating workload and resources with due regard to management requirements. To be prepared and willing to undertake other associated works as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • City & Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate in a relevant Painting & Decorating, Building or Construction discipline.
  • Plus,
  • City & Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate in a relevant Painting & Decorating, Building or Construction discipline.
  • Or,
  • An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Painting & Decorating, Building or Construction discipline.
  • Or,
  • BTEC/ONC in Painting & Decorating, Building or Construction Services.
  • *Additional relevant Competencies.
Experience
  • Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in Painting & Decorating, Building or Construction for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Plus
  • At least 2 years post training, site experience having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility.
  • And
  • Background in Painting & Decorating, Building or Construction installation, alteration, maintenance or repair.
  • And
  • Experience of Building components and surface finishes.
  • *Previous experience of working in an acute Hospital environment or similar demanding role.
Additional Criteria
  • *Ability to work without supervision and confident to take decisions based on own ability.
  • *Adaptable to change.
  • *Physically demanding role requiring manual handling of loads, extremes of temperature and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • *Appreciation of his/her own limitations.
