The post is based at Regent Court, George Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1NU and you will be required to travel across sites.

Experience within an NHS financial management environment is desirable. The ability to work in a team, meet deadlines and have good communication skills is paramount for this role. Experience of MS Office packages and working with computerised ledger systems is also required for this role.

Candidates that have limited work experience and meet our education requirements through academic qualifications, may also be considered for our annex 21 route. This provides an enhanced workplace development for up to 12 months before moving to the full requirements of the role.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

5 GCSE (Grade 4 in Maths & English)

A Levels (300 points or More) or Degree (2.2) or AAT (Level 3) or equivalent.

The post holder must be willing and meet the criteria to be able to follow a course of study to complete professional CCAB equivalent accounting qualifications i.e. either ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA.

Experience

Essential

Practical application of basic accounting concepts and techniques.

Able to work well in a team.

Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of basic accounting concepts and techniques and communicate them to others (including non-finance staff).

Desirable

Experience in a financial role in a large and complex organisation.

Experience of working in a busy office environment - able to work accurately under pressure.

Experience of working within NHS Finance.

Basic knowledge of the NHS.

Additional Criteria

Essential

Displays smart appearance and integrity.

Reliable, punctual, pro-active approach. Ability to travel to fulfil the role, both between hospital sites and elsewhere, as required.
