An exciting opportunity has arisen within Women's and Children's Division at Watford General Hospital. We are a friendly, hard-working team of administrative, nursing, and medical staff. We take great pride in helping our patients and in delivering the best service we can.

We are looking for an experienced Patient Services Officer who is a self-motivated and committed person, to work as part of our busy team in our back office.

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational and I.T skills, and the ability to prioritise workload and work with limited supervision.

Main duties of the job
  1. Reception & ANC cover, making/rescheduling appointments, cashing up clinics.
  2. Pulling/ordering notes, printing clinic lists & prepping for clinics.
  3. General filing and tracking notes & printing labels.
  4. To ensure patient data is accurate & up to date.
  5. To undertake any other administrative duties as directed by The Senior Office Manager.

Key relationships: Ward clerks, clinical coders, midwives, doctors, Risk Office, Access to records office, patient service officers.

Please note that this post is cross-site between Watford, St Albans city, and Hemel Hempstead hospitals.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths.
  • ECDL Customer Service Training.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare support services or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge
  • Competent in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Understanding of information governance issues and how to manage confidential patient information.
  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems, (e.g.) Cerner Millennium.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a busy environment.
  • Experience working in an administrative role.
  • Experience of handling confidential information.

Salary: £25,883 to £26,958 a year pro rata including HCA.
