Back-End Developer

We are looking for a Back-End Developer to join our award-winning Audio Services development team.

As the Back-End developer, you will work alongside front-end, full stack, UX specialists, SREs, and product teams to create the comprehensive digital audio experiences our listeners love.

Working across multiple platforms to ensure that all customer-facing digital systems can adapt and scale when under large loads. Large loads in our case equate to “tens of thousands” of concurrent users across multiple countries around the clock, with bursts into “hundreds of thousands.”

The systems are continually evolving to ensure Bauer Media Audio stays at the forefront of the Audio space; the backend developers are tasked and entrusted to deliver the underlying functionality that makes the end customer experience appear slick and frictionless.

The position is working remotely (from home) but may require occasional office visits. Hot-desking at an office location is always available should the candidate prefer.

The Team:

The team is high-performing and agile, utilizing TDD and peer reviews. Our agile coach ensures that our staff, team, and business continually learn and improve.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Building and maintaining API-First web applications.
2. Assessing the efficiency and speed of current applications.
3. Writing high-quality code (TDD).
4. Troubleshooting and debugging.
5. Keeping on top of new technologies.

What you’ll bring to the role:

1. Previous commercial experience working in a back-end developer/full-stack role or environment.
2. Prior experience with any PHP Shop suite (Vanilla, Laravel, Slim).
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Good problem-solving skills.
5. High attention to detail.
6. Good analytical thinking.
