Responsibilities

The AVP, Senior Pricing Actuary reports to the Chief Pricing Actuary and is responsible for the reinsurance treaty pricing function. Key functions include but are not limited to:

• Independently analyze and price reinsurance submissions and provide recommendations.
• Work closely with underwriters to help them understand the conclusions and the key assumptions built into the pricing analysis.
• Effectively communicate findings and results to internal and external stakeholders and all levels of management as required.
• Present pricing findings to the company President and serve as a key member in the referral process.
• Develop, maintain and enhance actuarial pricing tools and parameters.
• Train, mentor and develop junior staff.
• Support reserving, financial reporting, management reporting, Enterprise Risk Management functions as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or math preferred.
• FCAS or ACAS Designation strongly preferred but we'll consider candidates who are pursuing such designations as well.
• 10 years of property casualty actuarial experience is required. Hands-on experience in reinsurance treaty pricing is preferred but we'll also consider candidates who have reserving experience and/or who are working outside of reinsurance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Strong work ethic, project management skills and multi-tasking skills in meeting deadlines. The ability to work overtime during busy season is expected for this position.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Experience in at least one of the advanced technical programming and modeling tools (RMS, AIR, ReMetrica or MetaRisk) is a plus.
• Programming experience in VBA, R, Python, SQL or similar is a plus.
• Able to work on-site in Stamford, CT 4 days a week.
