Overview:

A specialist education provider in Meldreth, Hertfordshire is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 6-19 who have a range of moderate and severe learning difficulties (MLD and SLD), including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and associated difficulties, and require an individualised, specialist approach.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing school in Meldreth, providing high-quality education and care in a supportive and well-equipped environment.

Role Summary:

The Teaching Assistant will support students with learning, personal development, and well-being, ensuring they have the best opportunity to reach their full potential. This may involve care support, behaviour management, and adapting learning approaches to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Promote independence, personal development, and high behavioural expectations.
  • Support the Class Teacher in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Adapt to the changing needs of the school, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to meet students' needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, behaviour, and progress.

Requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - Essential
  • Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (or equivalent) - Desirable
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or Autism (preferably in an education setting)
  • A positive, creative, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
