We are recruiting an Audio Project Design Engineer for a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role with the potential to last several years.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage in-development and in-production parts and suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Oversee the Bill of Materials (BOM) and conduct digital and physical layout checks for audio components, such as speakers, microphones, amplifiers, and other infotainment systems.
Collaborate with external partners to manage tuning parameters and implement them into unit configuration data.
Conduct checks in production facilities to ensure fitment and production efficiency.
Perform design reviews at key milestones to ensure projects meet deadlines.
Ensure design releases are completed on time.
Achieve annual cost reduction targets.
Provide support to the manufacturing plant when required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
Skills:
Experience in manufacturing BOM management (advantageous).
Proficient in Office 365 tools (including intermediate/advanced Excel skills).
Demonstrate practical experience in problem-solving tools and techniques, with a strong mathematical foundation.
Experience in speaker and audio components design, including wiring and vehicle tuning.
Knowledge of vehicle communication networks, such as CAN, LIN, and A2B.
Familiarity with vehicle electrical/electronic architectures.
Experience in supplier management, particularly in audio-related fields (desirable).
Proficient in vehicle layout skills and knowledge of Teamcentre/NX CAD (desirable).
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible with working practices and hours.
Able to prioritise and multitask across multiple projects simultaneously.
