What you'll do

This exciting role will sit within the CRM Operations team as part of the Online department at Marks & Spencer, a leading UK retailer. The team is responsible for building audiences for CRM campaigns across various M&S divisions, to help deepen our relationship with our customers.

This role will focus on building multi-channel audiences using our state-of-the-art technology in BEAM; our M&S data warehouse dataset and other technologies such as our CDP (mParticle). You will work with the CRM teams to build audiences using real-time customer data as well as customer profile data sitting in BEAM, with the purpose of driving relevant and personalised experiences across channels.

You will build, develop, and manage all audiences on relevant platforms on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that all audiences are populated correctly, delivered on time and that we maintain a clean, up-to-date set of audiences.

You will be the subject matter expert on audience selection via SQL / PySpark and be able to advise on the best attributes to use for stakeholders to achieve their business objectives.

  • Create targeted audiences using SQL and PySpark with M&S customer datasets.
  • Create real-time audiences in CRM platforms using real-time data.
  • Ensure that campaign data specs and builds are delivered within our SLAs.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis on potential audience sizes for marketing stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all audiences are accurately built and following best practice.
  • Work with the Data Engineering and Data Product teams to identify and resolve any data/technical issues.
  • Work closely with and become a thought partner to Business Unit stakeholders in identifying high potential audiences.

Who you are

  • Good understanding of SQL and PySpark.
  • Knowledge of customer data in marketing context; experience with Databricks is desirable.
  • Good understanding of retail market and the ability to react to fast-paced dynamic working environment quickly is desirable.
  • Previous data management experience desirable as this role will work closely with M&S customer data engineering team.
  • Understanding of documentation using Confluence and ticket management using Jira is desirable.
  • Confidence in working with and challenging stakeholders in a collaborative fashion to drive the best outcome.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to write clearly, explaining jargon to internal business stakeholders as needed.
  • Analytical mindset and curiosity.
