Job description

My client is a leading international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. They provide integrated engineering services delivered seamlessly in the areas of Civil, Structural, Building Services, Transport, Façade and other related engineering disciplines.

General Responsibilities:
  1. Has sole responsibility for significant and complex activities or projects
  2. Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others’ work
  3. Responsible for monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets for own areas
  4. Responsible for predicting and planning future resources which may include setting up new projects (technical or business) and project plans
  5. Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines
  6. Represents the group/office/discipline/profession at internal and external meetings
  7. Contributes to the development and/or implementation of plans for the longer-term benefit to the office/group, business/firm
  8. Authors official documents e.g. letters and reports (for internal or external use)
  9. Executes responsibilities as outlined in the firm’s Management System
  10. May in addition be responsible for one or more of the following:
    1. Responsible for the performance, work, and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback
    2. Responsible for the achievement of financial targets in specified areas; contributes to the setting of budgets
    3. Responsible for negotiating significant contracts/agreements with customers and/or suppliers
  11. Direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities as required
  12. Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience
  13. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment for simulation purposes and to prepare engineering design documents
  14. Apply expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures
  15. Research design options and document findings
  16. Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters
  17. Review shop drawings
  18. Undertake liaison and coordination with other designers, including architects, and other engineers to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic and concept of the construction
  19. Undertake liaison with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound
  20. Examine structures at risk of collapse and advise how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure
  21. Demonstrate capability and experience in managing and performing projects in a fast-paced environment
