The Role
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimising our IT infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of enterprise IT systems, networking, security, and cloud technologies. It will play a crucial part in ensuring the resilience, security, and scalability of our infrastructure, supporting critical banking operations. There will be a mixture of technical support, BAU, and project work set by the IT Support and Infrastructure Manager. Due to the nature of the role which supports predominantly office-based stakeholders, and the benefit of on-the-job learning and mentoring, this will be an office-based position.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments.
- Lead infrastructure projects and ensure alignment with the bank's technology and business strategies.
- Manage Windows and Linux-based systems, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (365 & Azure).
- Oversee network security, firewalls, VPNs, and cybersecurity measures to ensure compliance with banking regulations.
- Implement automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency (PowerShell etc).
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring of infrastructure systems.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and collaborating with internal teams and vendors.
- Ensure disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) strategies are in place and tested regularly.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
Professional Experience
- Minimum three years' experience working in an IT support and a customer service-focused environment.
- Professional manner with excellent communication and telephone etiquette; able to interact with all levels of seniority within the firm.
- Ability to work under pressure, listen and interpret customer needs accurately with a positive attitude.
- Analytical mindset with persistence in solving challenging problems.
- Attention to detail and logical thinking.
- Can-do attitude and strong organizational skills.

- Experience working in a smaller corporate environment (<500 employees).
Technical Experience
- Experience with a complex infrastructure environment spanning multiple sites.
- Windows Server 2016-2025.
- Azure Cloud / Azure AD / SSO / MFA.
- Virtualization - VMware (ESXi, vCenter) & Hyper-V.
- Active Directory.
- Desktop/User automation using Group Policy and SCCM.
- PowerShell scripting.
- Microsoft Intune Endpoint Management.
- Exchange Online and Exchange Server 2019 / Hybrid environments.
- Office365 administration.
- Microsoft SCOM/SCCM.
- Veeam backup solutions.
- Storage - NetApp or similar.
- Network fundamentals, preferably Cisco.
- Fortinet firewalls, or similar.
- Experience with Office Add-ins troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Telephone Systems, preferably Mitel.
- Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, NetScaler experience.
- Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, Fidessa, or other Market Data experience.
- Disaster recovery / BCP.
- SQL Server database management & administration.
