The Department of Management & Marketing at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Associate Professor. Key Responsibilities

  • To pursue research that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
  • To contribute to the development of successful research project/fellowship proposals.
  • Deliver excellent teaching at undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels.
  • Contribute to enhancing the quality of the research environment in the Department.
  • Attract and supervise research students.
  • Contribute to the administrative functioning and collegial environment of the Department.
  • Engage in, champion, and enhance the values of the Department.
  • Carry out other duties as specified by the Head of Department.

Person Specification

Candidates must demonstrate research excellence in Marketing and the ability to teach students to an exceptional standard.

Research

  • Qualifications: a good first degree and a PhD in Marketing or a related subject.
  • Outputs: consistently recognised as internationally excellent, with at least one output regarded as world-class.
  • Personal Research Plan: evidence of a personal research plan supporting the Department’s research strategy.

Education

  • Quality: significant contribution to the development and delivery of high-quality teaching.
  • Innovation: evidence of successful new programme development and innovative teaching methods.
  • Strategic: significant contribution to the design and delivery of excellent teaching activities.

Service, Citizenship and Values

  • Citizenship contribution: significant contribution to the collegial work and environment of the Department.
  • Leadership: evidence of leadership roles supporting the functioning of an academic Department.
  • Communication: excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Research Leadership: significant contribution to establishing and leading research groups.
  • PhD Supervision: successful recruitment and supervision of PhD students.
  • Research Impact: evidence of research with demonstrable impact.
  • Income Generation: evidence of successful research projects and grant proposals.
