  • Shape the future of Indigenous Business and Leadership, influencing policy, practice, and education while working within a dynamic and highly collaborative academic environment.
  • Drive high-impact research initiatives, secure competitive funding, and mentor the next generation of scholars.

About the Opportunity

In 2021, the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Business and Economics, in partnership with Melbourne Business School, established the Dilin Duwa Centre for Indigenous Business Leadership to foster excellence in Indigenous business education and research.

As Associate Professor, you will drive research initiatives of national and international significance, shaping the Centre’s scholarly contributions. You will lead and mentor students and early-career researchers, building a culture of research excellence while securing major competitive grants and producing high-impact publications.

Additionally, you will play a key part in developing and delivering teaching within the Master of Indigenous Business Leadership and other programs, as well as contributing to seminars, workshops, and professional development activities. Your leadership will extend across the University and Melbourne Business School, engaging in committees and broader academic initiatives that support the Centre’s vision and strategic goals.

About You

You are an inspiring and collaborative leader, with the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships and drive positive change in the field of Indigenous Business and Leadership. With exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, creating an inclusive and supportive academic environment. Your leadership is characterised by integrity, vision, and a commitment to mentoring and developing others, particularly early-career researchers and students. As a skilled collaborator, you work seamlessly across disciplines and institutions, bringing people together to advance research and practice. Your strategic mindset and sound judgement enable you to navigate complex challenges, while your ability to communicate with clarity and influence enhances the Centre’s impact at both national and international levels.

You will also have :

  • A doctoral qualification in Indigenous Business, Indigenous Leadership, or a closely related discipline, along with a distinguished academic career in research, policy, and practice in this field.
  • A nationally and internationally recognised research portfolio, with a substantial body of published work and a track record of securing competitive research grants and consultancies.
  • Extensive experience in university teaching, including course design in Indigenous Business and Leadership, as well as the successful supervision of higher degree research students.
  • A lived experience of Indigenous cultures and knowledges.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
