SLR’s Process Engineering team are growing and looking to recruit an experienced engineer or scientist to support our clients as they look to focus on addressing these issues.

Based in our Bristol, Manchester or Edinburgh office, you will work on a combination of project execution and delivery and business development activities for both new and existing clients within the wastewater and industrial effluent sectors. The role will be focused on the treatment of wastewater and is based in the UK, but with a strong reputation for supporting global clients there are also opportunities to support SLR’s other regions across the world.

About the team:
Our Engineering service line has expertise across a range of engineering sectors including civil, geotechnical, transport, chemical, process, materials, and mechanical engineering, with particular expertise in industrial wastewater and solid waste management/treatment and technologies. We work with other disciplines across SLR and on different projects in terms of their length and complexity. We provide clients with expertise at all stages of a project from establishing the root cause of a particular issue and then developing mitigation strategies from concept designs to commissioning and testing and on to performance improvement and optimisation. The Process Engineering team provides clients with expertise at all project stages, including:

  • Overall Project and Programme Management & Development;
  • Construction and Site Management;
  • Process Selection, plant Operation, Maintenance and Trouble Shooting;
  • Plant Commissioning and Performance Testing;
  • Technical and Economic Feasibility Studies &Technical Due Diligence Reviews;
  • Front End Engineering and Concept Design Studies;
  • Process Design Review and Optimisation & HAZOP/HAZID Studies;
  • Development and Preparation of Technical Specifications, Tender Packages and Tender Evaluation;
  • Technical Training and Instruction; and
  • Technical Advisor, Owner’s Engineer, and Independent Certifier Roles.

The role
This role is in our Process Engineering team, a group of engineers and scientists who support clients with a wide range of interesting and challenging projects including new and innovative technologies, the delivery of complex development works for brand-new facilities and optimisation of existing processes. You will work both independently and within a team to deliver projects and develop new and existing business. You will act as a project manager, write proposals and reports, review the output of colleagues and manage clients and the interface with clients and contractors. As an experienced member of the team, you will provide and manage workload of others in the team and other disciplines.
The position is a hybrid role where you will have an office base in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Edinburgh, or Bristol but when workload and client requirements permit can be home based.

About you
An experienced Engineer or Scientist with a wealth of expertise across industrial wastewater treatment, you will have a degree in a science or engineering based subject and experience of managing projects in the industrial wastewater field. With expert knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and associated cost challenges associated with industrial wastewater discharges faced by industry sectors across Europe and the world, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of a wide range of wastewater treatment technologies including techniques such as, membranes technology, UASB, gravimetric separation, physico-chemical and non-activated sludge biological processes such as ozonation, ion exchange etc.

The role will involve regular travel to client sites across the UK, and therefore a current full driving licence valid in the UK is essential.
