Are you ready to lead a team of talented coastal modellers and shape the future of the water industry? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Environment team as an Associate or Principal Coastal Modeller in our Basingstoke office (or other south coast locations), as well as taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

We're at the forefront of innovation, with an exciting and vibrant coastal project pipeline; delivering an exceptional portfolio of water projects for government departments and agencies, local authorities, water companies, other infrastructure operators and major private sector clients. Here's what you'll do:

  1. Deliver: Lead modelling studies for a range of projects supporting feasibility/option appraisal to detailed design. Effectively manage projects and work packages to ensure successful delivery of tasks to agreed budget, programme and quality.
  2. Quality: Help drive technical quality and rigour through checking and verification of modelling deliverables.
  3. Collaborate: Work closely with other disciplines in the delivery of modelling studies; and liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors and suppliers.
  4. Leadership: Provide clear and consistent guidance, mentoring and training for junior modellers.
  5. Growth: Support the preparation of coastal modelling proposals and bids.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what's possible?

Here's what we're looking for:

  1. Master's degree in civil engineering, Coastal Engineering, Marine Science, Oceanography or similar.
  2. Chartered or close to achieving chartership with an appropriate institution (i.e. IMarEST or CIWEM).
  3. Substantial experience working on Coastal, Ports or Water modelling projects, with demonstrable technical capabilities.
  4. You will have experience in several of the following:
  • Model development and application using MIKE by DHI and/or Delft3D software for the study of waves, tides and sediment transport
  • Metocean data analysis using MATLAB / Python
  • Coastal Processes Studies
  • Near-field mixing studies using CORMIX
  • Joint probability methods (using EA/Defra guidance)
  • Multivariate analysis
  • Overtopping assessments (using the EurOtop Manual)
  • Beach design (using XBeach, Shingle-B)
