The WSP Pavement Engineering team is seeking an Associate Pavement Engineer to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting large-scale projects. Due to recent successes the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.

A little more about your role…
  1. You will deliver pavement projects, including investigation reports, design and site supervision.
  2. Perform road inspections and report treatment recommendations.
  3. Demonstrate technical knowledge in pavement design, maintenance and construction projects.
  4. Demonstrate competency with developing pavement designs and preparing contract documentation in accordance with the DMRB/MCHW.
  5. Carry out line management duties and be responsible for staff utilisation, their development and progress.
  6. Lead/direct project teams, providing technical and management support on a day-to-day basis.
  7. Support managers with provision of information on staff performance for appraisal purposes.
  8. Demonstrate good commercial acumen in the delivery of projects.
  9. Control, manage and report on project delivery and performance.
  10. Review client work briefs, prepare fee estimates, scope documents and delivery programmes.
  11. Deputise for senior management as and when required.
  12. Demonstrate a holistic understanding of civil engineering especially drainage and geotechnics.
  13. Ensure that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company's management systems including health and safety, project and risk management.
  14. Work both independently and within a team environment.
  15. Support with developing and enhancing internal team and external client relationships.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
  1. Experience working within a Pavement Engineering discipline.
  2. Knowledge of pavement engineering demonstrated by experience of design and investigation.
  3. Knowledge of cementitious and bituminous material performance, specification, behaviour and failure mechanisms.
  4. Experience of road and/or airfield pavement engineering projects.
  5. Experience of highway pavement testing and assessment.
  6. Experience of UK pavement design methodologies and contract documentation, including DMRB and MCHW.
  7. Ability to understand the scope and limits of responsibility between various engineering disciplines and project support groups.
  8. Knowledge of Asset Management principles and the ability to understand/improve them.
  9. Knowledge of roads operation, maintenance and renewal practices.
  10. Good working knowledge of the preparation of proposals and communication with clients.
  11. BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  12. Chartership with a relevant professional engineering institution (e.g. ICE, CIHT or similar).
  13. National Highways Accredited Pavement Engineer (preferable).
  14. Experience of non-DMRB pavement design and international material specification is an advantage.
