Job description

2 x Shipping Insurance Litigation Associates – 2–4 PQE – London

This leading international law firm, long established as a trusted adviser to the transport sector, is investing in its marine insurance practice.

The team is entering a new chapter—driven by a recently promoted partner and refreshed leadership structure—and is now looking to hire at least two additional mid-level Associates, likely in the 2–4 PQE range.

In this role, you’ll join a dynamic group providing the full spectrum of wet and dry shipping, trade, and commodity services to a high-profile international client base. These include shipowners, charterers, P&I clubs, and insurers, across disputes involving casualties, charterparties, ship arrest, cargo, marine insurance, shipbuilding, jurisdiction, sale of goods, fine art and specie, misappropriation, personal injury, property damage, and yacht claims.

To be considered, you will likely have:

  • Strong academics and sound technical and research skills;
  • Training from a well-regarded City or regional firm, ideally with a strong marine practice;
  • Between 2 and 4 years’ PQE with a solid foundation in litigation—marine and/or insurance experience would be a strong advantage;
  • A proactive, collaborative approach, and confidence managing a busy and varied caseload;
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Common law-qualified lawyers with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply. Ideally, you will have some UK-based litigation experience.
