Associate Director, Pre-College Programs

About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Pre-College Programs and as part of an overall undergraduate enrollment recruitment strategy aimed at deepening the level of engagement with prospective students, the Associate Director of Pre-College Programs at Northeastern University is responsible for the planning and execution of student life operations of various academic and co-curricular programs under the Accelerate Pre-College Programs portfolio and additional programs geared toward middle school and high school aged audiences.

The primary focus of the Associate Director is to facilitate a best-in-class student life experience for program participants. To this end, the key responsibilities of the Associate Director are to:

  1. Work collaboratively with various units across the institution and its various campuses, including the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of the Chancellor, Enrollment Marketing, Northeastern University London, the Enrollment Management Contact Center, the Office of Global Services, External Events and Conference Planning, Risk Management, Facilities, Husky Card services, NUPD, Catering, and academic departments across all undergraduate colleges.
  2. Work may entail extended hours in the evenings and weekends, especially during the summer months. Domestic and international travel throughout the year is required, with significant on-site time at global network campuses while programming is on-ground. Must obtain and provide a successful Massachusetts criminal record check (CORI) prior to starting this role and will be required to keep current with Risk Services training requirements on an annual basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Demonstration of progressively responsible experience in a professional position at an institution of higher education, preferably 4-7 years. Experience working in student affairs, student life or residential life is strongly preferred. Supervisory experience required.
  • Must be able to think critically and creatively, and provide support on enrollment-related and student service matters. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines to accomplish tasks. Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, and work independently. Must have a high level of customer service skills and attention to detail. Travel required throughout the course of the year to recruit program participants and support programs on-ground at global network locations such as Oakland, London, New York. Willingness and ability to work evening and weekend hours.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. Event planning skills are a plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage seasonal student life staff for both US-based residential programs (Boston and Oakland; potential for New York and others in the future)

    • Housing & Transportation
    • Dining
  • Design and execute engaging student life programming for US-based residential programs.
  • Assist the Senior Associate Director and faculty in:
    • program development and recruitment
    • academic logistics for course materials, field trips, and other program needs.

May review undergraduate admissions applications and will be required to attend Undergraduate Admissions events throughout the course of the year, performing duties and assignments as requested.

Expected Hiring Range:
$66,851.00 - $94,427.75

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
