Associate Director - Civils

Opportunity to become part of a globally recognized environmental and sustainability consultancy in their Glasgow office. They are seeking an Associate Director or Technical Director to join the Civil Engineering team, offering the successful candidate a chance to shape the future of their Civil Engineering division.

The Role:

As an Associate Director or Technical Director specializing in Civil Engineering, you will lead an experienced and talented team, ensuring high-quality project delivery and the continued growth of their Civil Engineering services. You'll be responsible for managing day-to-day team operations, supporting business development, and fostering client relationships.

The team currently manages a diverse range of projects, including infrastructure, residential, commercial, industrial, and renewable energy. You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including highways design, drainage and flood risk assessments, earthworks, 3D modelling, and technical reporting, from planning through to construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the management of the Civil Engineering team, including workload coordination, budget oversight, and mentoring staff.
  2. Lead business development efforts, identifying new opportunities and nurturing existing client relationships.
  3. Collaborate with other teams, bringing together complementary skills from structural, geotechnical, and health & safety teams.
  4. Manage multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring timely delivery to budget and quality standards.

About you:
  1. A degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. Chartered status with the ICE (MICE or FICE).
  3. Proven technical proficiency in civil engineering with a strong ability to write detailed reports.
  4. A demonstrated history in business development and client relationship management.
  5. Leadership experience, including team management, development, and mentoring.
  6. Expertise in UK highway design standards (e.g., DMRB, MCHW, Manual for Streets).
  7. Experience in drainage design, including residential, flood alleviation, and SUDS.
  8. Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
  9. Experience with quality control and oversight of drawings created in AutoCAD.
  10. Strong project management skills and a proven ability to deliver projects successfully.
  11. A full UK driving licence.
