Job description
Job Summary

As a member of the bonds syndicate team, the role is to assist in originating and ultimately executing Debt Capital Markets funding opportunities for our clients, either in public or private placement formats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bonds syndicate is a conduit for the implementation of the Bank’s broad strategy, which is to effectively serve our clients.
  • Debt Capital Markets financing is an integral part of the funding platform of a number of our clients; the role is to enable them to raise the targeted financing through bond issuances.
  • Our clients can look at the Debt Capital Markets in order to diversify their sources of funding and complement existing funding avenues; in a number of cases, these bond transactions allow our clients to either refinance existing liabilities or raise incremental/fresh funding for general corporate purposes.
  • In order to fulfill this objective, we provide guidance and market color to our clients, particularly when it relates to appetite for an issuance by them, timing, and expected parameters for such an issuance.
  • As part of the formulation and implementation of the strategy, a key responsibility/task is to prioritize idea generation that leads to demonstrable P&L.
  • Lead a strategic review of the Syndicate business in the EMEA region (in terms of increasing P&L, market share, private placements, liability management, etc.).
  • Coordinate within the broader Syndicate & Financing Risk Team in terms of bridge to bonds and comprehensive financing solutions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • As part of the Capital Markets business, bonds syndicate is essentially the link between the markets/investors and potential issuers.
  • This entails providing our clients with market updates, pricing views for new issuances, and arranging meetings with investors; one of the key objectives from this exercise is to ensure that our client has an accurate view of what can be achievable for them in the international or local debt capital markets.
  • Once a transaction is mandated, the role is to guide investors (along with the credit sales team) regarding the credit of the issuer, collect feedback and relay the same to the issuer; on the basis of this feedback and our general view of the market, the role is to ensure that the marketing/pricing of the bond transaction is executed in an efficient manner.
  • The key focus area for the London desk is EMEA issuers and EUR-denominated issuances; having said that, the desk also supports issuers from other jurisdictions, to the extent that investors in Europe and the Middle East are willing to participate in these non-EMEA transactions.
  • The objective is to take the lead/support in the origination of business and ensure that the parameters/objectives agreed with the issuer are delivered; this is essential to building trust with clients (credibility) as well as familiarity (making future interactions easier).
Qualification
  • Certifications - FCA Certification (can be obtained during the initial stages of employment)
  • Languages - English (Required), French/Arabic (nice to have)
