Job description

Role: ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £60-£70k (Depending on experience)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to join our clients' busy Civil & Structural Engineering team at Associate or Principal grade. The successful applicant will be based in the Glasgow office and support their existing established civil & structural engineering team, and will act as project manager and/or lead designer on a number of projects across the infrastructure and built environment sectors.

The Engineering team boasts a wealth of expertise across the UK within diverse sectors including water, waste, power, infrastructure, and the built environment. The team provides clients with expertise at all project stages, including:

  1. Planning;
  2. Feasibility;
  3. Outline and detailed designs;
  4. Liaison with statutory bodies;
  5. Overall Project and Programme Management;
  6. Development and Preparation of Technical Specifications;
  7. Preparation of Tender Packages and Tender Evaluation;
  8. Commercial support throughout the lifecycle of a project.

About the Associate Civil Engineer role:

If successful, you will work independently and within a team to deliver projects and assist with proposal development. You will act as a project manager, lead designer, write proposals and manage clients and the interface with clients. You will lead on projects and will be expected to mentor and coach other engineers within the team and support the sector and client leads across the business.

You will have the opportunity to work within an experienced team and be involved in a series of exciting challenges with one of the leading environmental and engineering consultancies in the UK.

About you:

If you are interested in applying, we would love to hear from you. In order to be successful, we'd envisage that you would be able to demonstrate:

  1. A solid track record managing projects, working in the UK on civil engineering projects.
  2. Experience of leading and managing teams of professional, engineering and operational staff in a project, consultancy or contracting environment including proposal and tender writing experience.
  3. Strong leadership, project management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and managing, mentoring and coaching staff.
  4. Demonstrable knowledge of UK engineering guidance.
  5. Masters' Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  6. Member of Institute of Civil Engineers or similar.
  7. Must have a full, current, driving licence valid in the UK.
  8. IT literate, word, excel, MS Project.
  9. Procurement and specification writing.
  10. Good communication skills.
  11. Ability to work in a team.
  12. Well organised.
  13. Friendly and outgoing.
  14. Honest and reliable.
