The Role

In this role, you’ll play a central role in curriculum leadership, spiritual development, and school improvement through strategic initiatives, faith-based events, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Religious Education Faculty and its curriculum
  • Drive and promote Catholic life, values, and mission throughout the school
  • Oversee Section 48 inspection preparations and Catholic life initiatives
  • Support, mentor and develop staff across the department
  • Monitor teaching standards, conduct lesson observations, and provide feedback
  • Develop RE policies and ensure inclusivity and high-quality learning for all students
  • Facilitate parental, staff, and student engagement with RE and Catholic ethos
  • Manage assessment frameworks to monitor student progress and outcomes
  • Build relationships with external Catholic education networks and exam boards

The Ideal Candidate:

  • QTS and a relevant degree (NPQSL or NPQH desirable)
  • Extensive experience in Catholic secondary education
  • Strong curriculum leadership and proven school improvement record
  • Experience preparing for Section 48 inspections (desirable)
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Confidence to challenge, innovate, and lead with integrity
  • Passion for student welfare and staff development
  • A proactive and values-led leadership style
