Job Title: Assistant Warehouse Manager
Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the daily operations of our warehouse. This role involves overseeing staff, managing daily goods in and out, coordinating container offloads, leading stocktakes, and ensuring all warehouse tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management:
- Supervise, motivate, and support warehouse operatives on a daily basis.
- Assist with scheduling and assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
- Support training and onboarding of new staff.
- Enforce health & safety regulations and company policies.
- Goods In / Goods Out Operations:
- Coordinate and monitor all daily inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Ensure goods are checked, recorded, and stored accurately upon receipt.
- Oversee picking, packing, and dispatch processes to meet delivery deadlines.
- Liaise with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams to resolve any issues.
- Container Offloading:
- Plan and manage the offloading of incoming containers.
- Ensure proper handling, unloading, and accurate booking-in of goods.
- Maintain clear documentation and communication with inventory and purchasing teams.
- Stock Control & Stocktakes:
- Oversee stock control procedures and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Lead and participate in regular stocktakes and cycle counts.
- Investigate and resolve any stock discrepancies.
- Work closely with the inventory team to ensure system accuracy.
- Day-to-Day Warehouse Operations:
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Monitor use and maintenance of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet trucks).
- Support process improvements to drive efficiency and reduce errors.
- Act as point of contact in the Warehouse Manager's absence.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or assistant management role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good understanding of goods receiving, dispatch processes, and stock control.
- Competent in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Physically fit and able to assist with manual handling when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift license (Counterbalance and/or Reach) necessary.
- Experience with ERP or inventory systems (e.g., NetSuite, RFsmart).
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
