Introduction

Participation is the main public engagement team at UK Parliament. We are a bicameral team, providing shared services to both Houses.

The Visitor Experience team welcomes around one million visitors to the Parliamentary estate every year, facilitating access to those visiting the public galleries, select committees, and those supporting the business of both houses.

The Role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Assistant Visitor Operations Manager to lead our Visitor Experience team. You will support and develop your team, working to motivate and inspire them to open the Palace of Westminster to all visitors and engage the public with the work of UK Parliament.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • To proactively lead and line manage your team and oversee their induction, training, and ongoing development.
  • To support Operation Managers in the delivery of projects.
  • To welcome visitors to Parliament, provide information, and assist them to their destinations, managing any specific access requirements.
  • To monitor the content and quality of all tours and talks and to take action to address any issues.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • The ability to lead, manage, organise, and develop a team and to provide a coaching approach with team members.
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service with a good understanding of what this looks like.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and proactive with a flexible and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement.
