This is an exciting role for an entry level Assistant Site Manager from the Oxford area ONLY, ideally with a relevant undergraduate education or vocational experience at one of the most iconic historic buildings in Oxfordshire. The role commences at the beginning of January 2025 on a two-year conservation project. This role is for an Oxford based candidate with a clean current driving license and a passion for historic buildings, who can demonstrate a courteous manner in a public, live project environment. Working alongside our highly experienced management and conservation team, and training will be given to fulfil and develop the job role with excellent career progression.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role are broadly as follows;

Specific (but not limited to)

  1. Site recording including labour returns and daily diary.
  2. Scaffold Inspections.
  3. Quality control of works generally.
  4. Submission and management of RFI’s (Request for information), CVI’s (confirmation of verbal instructions) and timely actioning of PMI’s and AI’s (Project Managers Instructions and Architects Instructions).
  5. Gathering of all appropriate information to assist the Site Manager/Project Manager in valuing the works and delays.
  6. Checking weekly time sheet records by operatives for accuracy and advising accounts on the accuracy of the fortnightly ops register.
  7. Health and Safety management including toolbox talks, site inductions, PPE issue and monitoring, Hot Works Permits, CSCS compliance, Accident book records, liaising with external H&S inspectors during their visits, ensuring safe working practices on site, producing risk assessments and COSHH sheets where necessary, reporting accidents to the Projects Manager/Contracts Manager.
  8. Maintaining site plant register including PAT testing, PUWER and LOLER requirements.
  9. Carrying out Daily Briefings (DABs) and regular toolbox talks with operative workforce.
  10. Assisting in carrying out DBR weekly internal Health & Safety Inspection Reports using template.
  11. Assisting in the review of Health and Safety Audit Inspections and actioning required close outs in a timely manner.
  12. Daily liaison with the Client, Stakeholders and other interested parties.
  13. Daily Supervision of subcontractors.
  14. Overseeing cleaning and conservation teams and liaising with those team leaders.
  15. Attending client meetings with Site Manager/Project Manager (monthly usually with Projects Manager/Contracts Manager in attendance) including production of Contractors Progress reports (Minimum monthly but often weekly flash reports are required).
  16. Attending site walk round technical meetings with the design team (usually once a fortnight but may be more frequent depending on need).
  17. Assisting Site Manager/Project Manager in formulating overall project programmes.
  18. Formulating and Implementing target programmes for site teams.
  19. Logistics management coordinating deliveries, disposal and storage on site of plant and materials in conjunction with DBR Head Office Logistics Manager.
  20. Daily environmental management of project in accordance with Company Environmental Policy and project specific environmental requirements.

General

  1. Under the direction of the Site Manager/Project Manager and in conjunction with other members of the designated projects team, carry out duties to achieve the profitable and efficient execution of the Company’s business, including the procurement of new business.
  2. To supervise on a day to day basis the site activities of the Project, ensuring that all work is properly carried out in accordance with the appropriate specifications, drawings and method statements, and that all operatives and other interested parties are properly briefed as to their tasks.
  3. To co-ordinate and control the activities of Subcontractors and Suppliers on the projects in conjunction with the Site Manager/Project Manager.
  4. To implement and enforce the Company’s policies on Health & Safety and Quality Management on the Project.
  5. Ensure that the requirements of CDM are complied with and that the appropriate records are kept.
  6. To liaise and communicate with clients in respect of the Projects.
  7. To carry out all necessary correspondence in relation to the project and undertake the valuing of works.
  8. To keep appropriate records and ensure the Site Manager/Project Manager is fully informed of relevant matters regarding the Project.
  9. To work in conjunction with the Site Manager/Project Manager to achieve the efficient servicing of the Project and dissemination of information.
  10. To facilitate discipline and liaison between the Operative Work Force and the Site Manager/Project Manager.
  11. To promote the best interests of the Company at all times.
  12. To undertake such specific tasks that may reasonably be allocated by the designated Line Manager.
