Job description

Assistant Shift Team Leader

Toro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Assistant Shift Team Leader to join an advanced Energy from Waste (EfW) facility. This role involves supporting the Shift Team Leader in overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the plant, ensuring optimal performance at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the operation and monitoring of plant systems from the Central Control Room, making necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and compliance.
  2. Implement and adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel and contractors.
  3. Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and operational adjustments to plant equipment, recording essential data and reporting issues promptly.
  4. Apply and enforce safety rules, including permit-to-work systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  5. Support the receipt of consumables and disposal of waste products, maintaining accurate inventory levels.

Skills & Qualifications:
  1. Recognised engineering qualification (Degree, Apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  2. Minimum IOSH 3-day safety qualification.
  3. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including environmental and health & safety standards.
  4. Experience working in an Energy from Waste facility or similar high-pressure steam process environment.
  5. (Senior) Authorised Person experience within Safe Systems of Work is highly desirable.
