The University of Manchester is the largest single site university in the UK and one of the top universities in the world with over 10,000 staff and 50,000 students. We are seeking to recruit two full-time Assistant Regulatory Compliance Officers who will work closely with and support the Regulatory Compliance Officers in delivering a service to facilitate cutting-edge research activity, within the envelope of national and international export control regulations. This is a complex area of international regulation and requires the ability to assimilate, understand and translate those regulations to a range of audiences. More importantly perhaps, is the ability to engage, support and work effectively with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds, working in such areas as advanced materials, aerospace, nuclear and biological fields. The postholder will be expected to compile and submit applications through the SPIRE and LITE portals and liaise with the Export Control Joint Unit on an as required basis.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in a similar administrative role. They will also have an analytical mind-set and attention to detail and also have knowledge of the academic research environment. In addition, they will have an awareness of the legislation and regulations associated with trade compliance and governance issues; and have excellent organisational skills including the ability to work to deadlines.
