Job description

Leading civil engineering main contractor is seeking to employ an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor level candidate, with experience of working with the NEC contract, to join their commercial team.


This role is following the award of a long term civil engineering framework which incorporates a wide spectrum of civil engineering projects on the East side of England. The team for this framework is based in London and York so there will be a need for a presence in these offices when needed.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Overseeing the financial and contractual performance of projects
  2. Ensuring profit targets and efficiency savings are achieved
  3. Administering change control and managing risks and opportunities
  4. Conducting compliant procurement processes and managing supply chain relationships
  5. Preparing and negotiating claims, and managing subcontractor payments
  6. Attending project meetings and site visits to monitor progress
  7. Maintaining accurate financial logs, cost plans, and project forecasts
  8. Preparing monthly reports and attending cost review meetings
  9. Ensuring compliance with contractual terms and governance processes
  10. Building and strengthening relationships with clients and commercial team members
  11. Upskilling and supporting less experienced team members

Job Requirements:
  1. Proven success in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveying role
  2. Experience of working with the NEC form of contract
