Job description

Hays Construction are recruiting for a well-known and highly reputable Construction Contractor based in Merseyside. We are looking for a motivated and highly ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent commercial graduate with 2-3 years of post-graduate experience to develop their skills and grow within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Support the preparation of tender documents and contracts.
  • Conduct site visits.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure costs are kept within budget.
  • Collaborate with the Senior QS / Commercial Manager, Project Managers, Site Teams and all external stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on project financials, manage costs, variations and valuations.

Requirements:

  • Ideally, a B.Sc. Quantity Surveying.
  • 2-3 years of post-graduate experience with a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, cost estimating software).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider Commercial team.
  • You must be highly ambitious, and want to drive your career forward within Quantity Surveying.
