Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our CATAT service (Camhs alternative to admissions team).

CATAT Has 2 Main Pathways

  1. Admission Avoidance - Least restrictive option, CYP who are already open to a core team but need a more intensive intervention to support their mental health needs. To prevent things from worsening and/or needing a hospital admission.
  2. In-reach/Outreach - support to young people leaving inpatient settings (T4) to help them adjust back into life in the community.

Main duties of the job

Main duties are to support the delivery of psychologically-informed assessments, formulations and interventions to service users alongside psychologists and other colleagues under the close supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. This will include cognitive assessment, personality assessment and mental health difficulties.

There will be opportunities for group and individual work as well as data collection, audit and evaluation of exciting new developments in the delivery of psychologically informed interventions within the team.

A good understanding of psychological models and their practice application, as well as data analysis and report writing skills is desirable.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities To Include

  1. Psychological assessment, supporting administration and implementation of team and individual formulations, intervention as appropriate under close supervision of a Clinical psychologist.
  2. Co-facilitating psychologically informed interventions and groups including DBT, DDP, Sensory Processing.
  3. Contributing to the practice of psychologically informed interventions within the team.
  4. Opportunities for further development including further training are supported in preparing you for a future role in clinical psychology.
  5. Contributing to reflective practice topics and the implementation of the clinical model.
  6. Evaluating outcomes and writing reports of assessments.
Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

  1. A BPS accredited degree in Psychology.
Experience Essential

  1. Experience of quantitative research.
Knowledge Essential

  1. Knowledge of mental health.
  2. High standard of report writing.
Desirable

  1. An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities.
Other Essential

  1. Ability to travel independently.
