We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join our team!

The Southampton CAMHS team is a strong and supportive team and has excellent structures to offer regular supervision and support. We are looking for exceptional individuals with the right attitude, skills and knowledge who share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families.

This is an Assistant Psychologist post supporting the work we do at Southampton CAMHS with the Youth Justice Service (YJS). We currently have a CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner who provides specialist assessments, psychological formulations and interventions for children and young people who present with mental health needs at our CAMHS service, and who are known to the Southampton Youth Justice Team.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve carrying out complex mental health and neurodevelopmental assessments (under supervision); doing joint work with YJS workers and CAMHS colleagues; offering some targeted mental health interventions to children and young people (e.g. psychological formulation, emotional coping skills work; CBT for anxiety/low mood). The role includes regular data collection and auditing of the cases seen in YJS/CAMHS, attending multi-agency consultations and also supporting with teaching and consultation to the YJS team directly.

This post is a full-time permanent post that should appeal to enthusiastic and highly motivated candidates who are interested in developing skills in assessment of children with complex needs. The wider CAMHS has a number of clinical psychologists, trainees and assistants and you would be linked in with other clinical psychologists for your professional development, alongside receiving supervision from a clinical psychologist.
